I have been rasing live brine shrimp for my baby fish but they always die after about 4-5 days and then I have to hatch more. It isnt a problem becuase they are for baby fish but I would like to keeo some alive to grow full size then feed them to my bigger fish.

How do I keep them alive for longer, what do they eat?

thanks

After 3 days they develop mouth parts and need to start to feed on algae's. so u need green water or something similar to feed them.

Take a piece of lettuce and put into a jar with tank water, set in window sill.

The lettuce might not work too well for greenwater in brine...I'm not sure.

You can give brine shrimp a tiny pinch of powdered bakers yeast or spirulina (available in tiny cheap packets off ebay) every couple of days and that works very well.

Sea monkeys (which are just brine shrimp) come with a little food packet that is just these two things mixed together.

Green water doesn't have to be salt, I have raised them to adult several times. You can feed them green water made out of fresh and a couple of other things you can feed it yeast and boiled egg yolk.

That would mean that every time you fed them the green water, the salinity would change, and the algae would die so anything uneaten would just make the water go bad.
