I never thought I was a fish person...
So I won a weird shaped flower vase at my company's Christmas party (about 2 gallons) which I couldn't find a practical use for. I was thinking a gold fish, or one of those cool fighting fish thingies (which I now know are Bettas) would look cool in it. I went to a LFS and the Bettas all looked extreemly unhappy, but the fish in the tanks all seemed to be happy and active. I came home with a 30 gallon starter kit.
I have now finished cycling and fully stocking the 30 gal, upgraded the lighting, and I am now in the process of planting it. I couldn't seem to get enough, so I have now bought a 10 gallon tank for breeding wild-type Endlers, which are comming by mail.
I have spent countless hours on the internet reading about fish and aquariums in the last couple of months. This is getting expensive and time consuming, but I couldn't be happier with this hobby. I now have my eyes on a 125-long tank at the fish store, which looks like it would make a great home for some Balas...
Who knew that a stupid flower vase (which never ended up with fish in it) would end up here!
