Hey the albino tiger barb i recently purchased has been hiding in the corner for 3 days. When he does come out he has rapid jerky movement and gets scared of the other fish and hides again. Do you think this is just new tank syndrome or could is be Neon Disease? Should I return the fish to the store and not buy any more fish their?

What are your water parameters? Fish that hide and jerk like that may be due to poor water quality or parasites. Is he flashing at all, rubbing on rocks? Also tiger barbs are schooling fish so he may be hiding because of that. What other fish do you have in the tank?

nitrite 0, ammonia 0 and ph is 6.0
there are 2 albino tiger barbs, 2 green tiger barbs, 2 regular tiger barbs and 3 rosy barbs in a 20 gallon

Bump. I need to know whether or not to take the fish back.

I'm not certain, but I think tiger barbs prefer to live in groups. This might be why, but I'm not certain.

Swimming in a jerky movement can be skin flukes, and hiding away can be a sign of parasites.
Is the fish pale with excess mucas.
Check the gills to see if there pale with excess mucas on them or red and inflamed.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing.

The tiger barbs are living in groups... there was 6 of them just different varieties.. Well I took the 2 albino back to the store and the moron at the store said it was my water until I told him my parameters and I told him to take a sample of water that the fish were in that I brought back and for some reason he said "it wouldnt work because the fish are putting ammonia in the water"... I laughed at him because he obviously had no idea what he was talking about. this is the last time I buy fish from there

Well your water parameters are fine. Your pH is a little low. Is it stable? If so don’t worry about it but if it is unstable it can cause a lot of problems.

I do think maybe the tiger barbs had a parasite due to the jerking movements.
