has anyone elses heater just randomly packed up?

tonight i got a plec and need to treat for white spot so turned the heater up a tad and after about an hour i hear a pop wil sitting here at my pc and start seeing bubbles come out of the heater, go over for a closer look and it's filling up.

I'ved got a spare 50W which will do for now but has anyone else has this problem?

you have an arrowana right? if so was it in that tank, they can break heaters.

nah this is a small 3ft tank.

in there is a ornate birchir and flash plec but nothing was near it when it happened.

I bought the heater bran spankers in august this year!!

Can you still get a replacement for it? It may have just been a faulty product in a box full of good ones. I've never had one pop on me but then again, the only bad heater experience I had was due to my mom. She uh.. turned up the heat when the indicator light was off, because she thought the light was broken. I woke up to fried fish.

Yeh i'll beable to get a free replacement through work, add it on the returns!!

Heh, no one would ever touch anything on my tanks before asking.

That's not too bad then, at least it won't cost you anything.
Did any of the fish get hurt?

..I was like, 4 or 5 so it was technically my mom's responsibility. She's only allowed to feed the bettas now when I'm home, because she can't confuse "Drop 2-3 pellets twice a day into the bowl" with an indicator light that's not lit because it's done heating. No way is she going near my tank unless it's to help my dad fit the hood on it!

Yeh, quite an odd one glad i noticed it.

Nah it's looking quite empty in there with only 2 fish leaving both of them fine.

Nasty, my heater only cracked.

At work we have a big giant gouramai and he was pinging the glass thermometer and broke that, i had to scoop a load of gravel out to try and remove the glass from it.

It could be because the heater was too hot for the temp of the water... like it was getting to hot too quickly

It's odd, its been fine for ages then I turned it up a few notches and an hour later busted!!

It was fully submerged, I'ved busted a few heaters in my past through splashing in water changes!!
