I don't think it has anything to do with where you live. When I've bought fish from different stores some have large bags and some have small bags. Some employees fill the bags with lots of water and others barely put any in at all.

all my lfs have small bags. and comressed air? is that when they get a special cylinder and fill the bag once the water and fish are in? I've never known anywhere round here to do that. but then again only buy fish within 10 miles of my house and always go straight home so would never need it. I still don't like the idea of keepin fish in bags for long periods of time, it's not an ideal environment and even if they do survive without any problems it's still not gonna be nice for the fish. that's just my opinion though and everyone is entitled to that. so please don't hound me saying i'm wrong. x

Yep, that's what they do. And frankly, spending a few hours in a well-prepared bag to go to their nice new clean home I would imagine is well worth it!

We don't like it either. It's a matter of a minimum 2-hour drive from the LFS to our house, or we don't keep fish.
