How can you tell when a pair of rams are ready to mate and are not fighting can someone explain the difference to me please.
Its an emergancy because i dont know if they are fighting or pairing off.
Please help me tell me if they are fighting or what they are doing.

What breed of Ram are they?

A common breeding behaviour is the pair digging up the substrate to make a 'ditch' for laying the eggs. Their colours will be more vivid and they will guard their territory as a pair.

Have you got plenty of hiding places. Rams enjoy a planted tank. If the 'fighting' continues for more than a couple of days I'd think about segregation.

Hi they dont seem to fight no more how long do they normally take before they start to breed once you put them in a tank.
Please help me.

Just because they're not fighting, doesn't necessarily mean they will breed. They may have just got comfortable with their territories. The best sign they're about to breed as mentioned is digging up of substrate and vivid colouration.

I'm not sure what the typical length of time to start breeding once added to the tank, I'm certain it will vary a great deal depending on many factors i.e. temp., pH, hardness, food given etc. My Blue Rams started after about three weeks. They are kept in a community tank with Angels, various Tetras, Gold Rams, Corys and Otos. My pH is 7.0, gH 9, kH 3.5, Temp. 25 - 27C depending on time of day (I have under-gravel heating on a timer). I feed them a combination of good flake (mix of Aquarian and Nutrafin Spiralina Algae flake), Frozen Bloodworm and Brine Shrimp.
