I am planning to get 2 bolovian rams and 3 Bronze C. Aeneus cory's. Can any1 tell me if this would work? I have other fish in my tank, I have 2 black skirt tetras, 4 lemon tetras and 1 guppy (plannign to return guppy to lfs soon.) My tank is pretty well planted as rams need this. I am also going to get 3 honey gourmaies shortly (possibly) I am pretty sure they will adapt with these fish.

#1 - Can these cory live with the rams?
#2 - Which ram is more suitable for my tank, german ram or bolivian ram?

-Thx in advance :D

Need to know tank size. But I have 6 juli corys with my german blue rams and they never bother each other. Probably both rams are suitable for your tank but i would recommend german blue rams

My tank size is 30 gallons ... hopefully that is fine right?

I dunno-mine (german blues) took the eyes out of 6 bronze cories the first time they spawned. It was nasty-I ended up putting all of them out of their misery.......

I keep a single Bolivian ram in 3 of my tanks. In the 55g there are a mixture of peppered, albino, bronze and panda cories.Neither he or his predecessor ever bothered with them
When I first joined this forum I was advised that a single Bolivian would be quite happy on its own and there was no need to keep a pair.I had previously had to separate 2 male Bolivians as one constantly harassed the other.
A pair of breeding rams can be very territorial and any bottom dwelling fish will take the brunt of their aggression
If I was you I would get 1 ram only for your tank and you should have no bother

What would u get a german blue ram or a german gold ram?

Blue. Better color-plus the golds seem to be a LOT sicklier to me. I have four regularly spawning pairs of blues-so I know it's not my fishkeeping-but every pair of golds I've had has died within weeks-

K kool thx. I was planning to get a blue one but it turned up that my lfs didint have german rams. Then i went to another lfs around 40 min, well i called them. And they said they only had gold rams. I guess time to look around more :/

I've kept German Blues, Golds as well as more recently Bolivian Rams (2 males). All have been kept with a school of corys without too many dramas. The German Rams are a more colourful fish but are more delicate and have a relatively short life span. Not many of my blues lived for more than a year and the Golds even less. My Bolivian Rams are always fighting amongst one another although they tend to leave the other tank mates alone. IMO they are not as attractive a fish but I understand they are a fairly hardy species. I would support earlier post by Weaver that if you’re going to keep Bolivians in a community tank keep only one.

Had rams with cories, but they ate the rams eggs so I moved them. My rams then decided that they would eat thier own eggs in future

I don't think that was necessary, 'cause my boyfriend's oscar grew one of his eyes back, so why couldn't the cories?. (Weird, eh?)
