Would a pair of rams be ok in a community tank... i no nothing about these fish any advice would be grand!

rams can be sensitive to water quality liking good quality acidic water i think.

they are peaceful fish so they should be ok in a community.

have you read their profile?

:good:

I have had a pair of rams before in a community similar to mine now and they were ok, they are very timid though so it would be best not to have boistrous fish in there like Bueno Aries Tetra or anything like that but they are good with community. I am thinking of getting a pair myself.

Just read the profile they are really pretty, i think i will leave it for a few months till the tank matures and i have abit more experience and everything then ill get a pair

I've got 3 rams and their the funniest things. I've had no problems with them (had them about 4 months) at all even with regular water changes which i know some people have mentioned they are quite sensitive to. They live alongside various tetras, silver sharks, cories, harlequins, and ottos. they do squabble/chase each other but nothing nasty. My 3 are very curious and whenever i'm cleaning the tank they always seem to come close and have a look and peck about - if anything they always get in the way . They all come to the glass together when u put your finger to it. They are really entertainig and would certainly recommend them. They've brought joy to my tank.

it depends on what rams you are talking about, german rams are very sensative to water quality but have really nice colors, but the bolivian rams are the same size and much more hardy thatn the german blue but dont have as much color, but still pretty looking, i have a trio of bolivian rams in my community they get along fine, and even when your adjusting things in the tank they come really close, they are curious fish :)

Its best to keep them in a pair. They are often described as peaceful but that means peaceful for cichlids, they are not always as peaceful as other community fish, especially when they are spawning. My last pair terrorised the whole tank and actually butted the eye out of one of my dwarf cories

yeah the ratio would be 2f to 1m

but i kept mine as a pair and they were happy.

:good:

yeah. i duno if you could keep two of one sex but if you did you'd probably have to go with females?

:good:

thought so.. i dont no much but men like to fight :D

I have read this in the pinned topics

Another commonly asked question is,"Will my ram be okay with these fish?" and so on. Rams, Apistos and Dwarf Acaras are regarded as the most peaceful cichlids out there and are great for community tanks. a perfect setup for beginners would be a 20gal,one pair of rams,5 neon tetras,5 glow light tetras,5 Harlequin rasboras and 5 corys.plant it and it would be your favorite tank.

A) Im not a great fan of tetras, if somewould would make a list of numbers and fish like above id appriciate it greatly!!! All the other fish in the list are great!

B)I have a 30gal tank well will have next weekend (cant wait!! :D), so how many more fish could i add (i do have a tiger plec to take into consideration with stoking thou. Filtration will be standard juwel but upgraded powerhead to 600l/ph appose to the 400 l/ph it comes with, specs are 101x31x46 120 litres 25-26 galls

C) dunno were this post belongs sorry but as the rams are the focal point ill add it to this one i made i really want a pair of rams bovarian as im a begginer :D

thanks for any help!
