Well 7th spawn on and most of the time thay fungus. I thought it was thier fault at first, but now I'm starting to think its my water.

Could anyone suggest the perfect conditions for them? And what are the cahnces of raising fry with thier tank-mates?

I really want baby Rams!!!

Are you 100% sure they're a pair? In other words, have you ever had any eggs hatch out? I thought I'd ask, since I've heard of two females attempting to spawn together, but of course, unfertilized eggs grow fungus. :/

several strains of Rams from the Middle Eastern? countries are breed in farms and are loaded up on a hormone that increases the colors of the Ram but makes them sterile. Tho the colors may eventually wear off, the fact that they are sterile doesnt. They stay sterile for life.

Is it possible for u to go and ask ur LFS what source of their Rams are? If they are from the Middle Eastern asian countries u may be outta luck with breeding them....although im pretty sure some rams from such places may not be injected with the hormone.

What is the longest period u've HAD any batch of eggs? 2- 3 days? have u ever seen the eggs develop black centers? or in other words, black dots in the middle of them? If so then the eggs were "growing".... the dots were the baby fishies eyes and guts and stuff, which also means that the male is sterile (the eggs are fertilised). But if u havent seen that in ur eggs or if uve never had eggs stay in the tank healthy for that long u mightve not seen it, u are outta luck.

HTH

sterile Rams eh?

Well I'm not 100% sure, I once took the eggs away, but funguss got to em and I had a pretty lousy hatch rate. I got them to wriggler satge, but that was it (poor preperation on my part), so I'm not too convinced they are sterile.

Well I've seen them get a brown centre (same colour as the wrigglers) so I'm not sure either :/ But yup they have only lasted an average of 2-3 days

oops i meant infertile :*)

ok then if u have seen the wrigglers then no the male aint infertile.

What you could try: Cycle a 5 gallon tank with no substrate. When you notice a batch of eggs, remove them immediately. Are rams cave spawners? (Sorry, not sure, never kept them) If they are, remove the entire cave with the eggs attatched, keeping them submerged in water the entire time. The best was to do this is to lower a rubbermaid bowl into the tank, lift the cave into it, and pull out the whole bowl. But the cave into the 5 gallon, and add Meth Blue. It's an anit-fungus med.
