my rams seem to be chasing each other in a non-aggressive way.they seem to go in circles for a few seconds then go back to eating.
what do they do before spawning?
what is their behaviour when they want to spawn?

thanks in advance :D

Quite interesting as i was going to ask this myself, but mine are all males!?

if they are following eachother it is a sure sign that they have paired up...when they want to spawn you will begin to see their colors more, female will get a redder belly, they may begin to dig a ditch in the substrate or clean a specific part of a rock/driftwood where they would like to lay eggs...they will then go head to tail to eachother usually starting with the male turning at a 45 degree angle to show off and the female following suit...

just my observations

My Rams spawned for the first time yesterday and here is what i noticed 2-3 days before the spawned.

1) Male began chasing the female round far more often but no nipping and they locked jaws a couple of times.

2) They both spent more time hovering together than they used to do in one spot which i thought was odd.

3) they moved sand off a piece of slate.

4) On the day of the spawn the male chased the female around a lot!

5) They kept coming close to together and kind of nudging each other.

6) they finally spawned.

If its the male chasing the female and you say it is in circle as well i would say that yours might be spawning soon.

They're fighting/squabbling over territory.
