Getting a new tank soon, 49 US gallons. will this be enough for 2 rams + a group (1 male 2 female) of apistogramma sp. ? i know a rough guide is 10g per ram or apisto so will this lack of 1g matter and will they all get along ok?
would they be ok to mix with gouramis also?
JC

They will be fine! i have a pair of rams in with a trio of Apistos, if anything its the female ram that gets bossy, as soon as she relizes all the others arnt interested she lets up.

Good luck with your new set up! Vamp.

just to be on the safe side pun in plenty of hide outs at opposite ends of the tank, the gouramis would be perfect as they will stick to the top of the tank by nature.

which apistos were you thinking off?

Can't decide. I like the look of A.hongsloi but they seem to be quite hard to get hold of round here, so I will probably go with some A.agassizi's, unless anyone can reccommend some other attractive apistogrammas? What ones do other people have?

With the smaller footprint, you're going to definitely make sure that there is some good way to divide the territories and plenty of hiding places. The gouramies will be fine.

How do you mean divide the territories? like some sort of physical barrier? Sorry if I'm being dense

no they mean like with plants and rocks etc... its so the fish dont see each other as much and have a little territory that they can call thier own.
