Rams And Western Rainbows

would a western rainbow and blue rams be able to be tank mates... I dont really want to make it another comunity tank but this male rainbow is being harassed by the other male rainbow in my 60ltr tank,
and i would prefer him to be "free"

i think they would make good tank mates as the rainbows like it hot and are very hardy. You should really keep them in a 4ft plus tank though and the reason they are fighting is because you have 3 fish and only one is a female and they are in a tank half the size needed. to be honest they all need rehoming to a bigger tank and you should try and buy at least 5 if not more female fish and you should find the males wont be to harsh on each other. if you seperate the one male no matter what size tank he goes in he will not be happy on his own thats for certain

my big tank was going to be a dwarf cichlid but i dont think a few rainbows would hurt!!

Rainbow fish IME are extremely active and most tend to get pretty big.. if you ask me, anything less than a 4 foot 55 gallon tank is too small, considering their size, activity, and the fact they should be kept in schools.

Not much can be kept with blue rams, as they like the water hotter than most fish. Just get a bunch of compatible warm water small schoolers (neons are commonly used) instead

i agree they need a bigger tank but western rainbows do like it really hot as well so they will work. neons dont do so good at too high temps at all
