Agreed, i wouldn't give Ram's much of a chance in a tank with Kribs. They are also used to very different water conditions, Rams prefer soft acidic water wheras Kribs are more at home in hard alkaline water.

Kribs are better in netrual pH water, well that gives more even female/male brood ratios.

But yeah kribs would probably be too aggressive for the rams.

i had to put them together due to tank problems but they are getting on fine cheers for the advice though.
rams are breeding and kribs always are any way
:good:

Ah but water is just water, no bacteria etc. the media is cycling a tank not maturing it. To mature a tank, it takes months.

what the hell do you mean. water and filter media from a previous tank which has been running for years will be fine especially when the water is soft and acidic

:S Can you say that again in english please in relation to what callum said.

I understood that...
Ah but water is just water, no bacteria etc.
basically he is saying that:
water is just water and it doesnt contain the bacteria and stuff to get the tank going.
the media is cycling a tank not maturing it. To mature a tank, it takes months.
The filter media just takes crap and stuff out of the water and contains the bacteria you need to cycle a tank, so if you put used filter media into an uncycled tank it will speed up the cycling process. A mature tank is one that has completely stable water and has been running for some time.

Hope I didn't confuse you (or myself) and end up talking tripe there.

Cheffi, Calum said that he used water from another tank, water does not contain anything to help the tank. Better?

jayjay i understand what your saying. A mature tank is one that has plenty of good bacteria and has been running for months and has a balance. If the media you are using has all been used in another tank then the tank i suppose is semi-mature as those filter pads havnt been running in the tank for months.
Water from another tank could i suppose have some good bacteria in it. Hopefully it wouldnt have any ammonia in it.
