Rams And Cardinals Emergency

im about to go to a fish store and i really want to get a ram for my ten gallon

its already has 6 cardinals and 1 dwarf puffer in it and its a mature planted tank

my question is if i get one male

willl he be agressive

bc ive heard storys about them killing other tetras

Did you get a ram or not? I would have said no as you would need at least 10 gallons and they like company.

i wantede to make sure that i knew what i was doing b4 i got it...

i know it would be alittle crowded but its a well planted tank and weekly waterchanges 25%

but they have been getting along fine so far

they dont take any intrest in the other fish

2 in a 10 by themselves could work, Apistos would be better though I think.

People do keep apistos as a pair in a 10 gal but this is really the absolute minimum space. When they breed (and they will) you may have aggression problems. For it to work you will need lots of structure and hiding places/caves in the tank and even then there's no guarantees.

If you decide on apistos, my advice would be to keep a single male. Get advice on compatability with dwarf puffers first though.

and the dwarf puffers have been returned to the shop.... aparently i dont have the right requirements

i want to get 1 male ram or 1 apisto male

i just dont know though

bc the last apisto i had killed all my tetras ...
and he was a lone male

i did some reading and rams are roomered to be peaceful so i think im leaning twords the ram.... but i need your opinion

the rams shhould be fine m8, i have 3 rams (2 x female, 1 x male) and they dont bother the other fish (see sig for stocking), the only time they bother the other fish is if they go for a peace fo food a ram wants and even then its nothing but the ram saying " hey thats mines back off" lol

yeah but how big is your tank ?

mine is a ten gall and all i want is one

Honestly Rams do better in pairs like most Cichlids, i really wouldnt get one on his own. If you want Rams get larger tank.

rams should be fine on their own, plenty of people have just one.
