Hi I was wondering if it were possible to keep mudskippers in less specialized setups?

Like a half filled, "normal" looking brackish water tank with stuff like big pieces of driftwood or those plastic turtle ramps made for turtles to bask on??

The problem with answering this question is that some people will mistakenly believe that you can keep mudskippers with other types of fish. You cannot. Please be crystal clear about this. Mudskippers do not live alongside other fish, and they need a tank tailor-made to their very specific needs. Fish that are smaller than they are may be eaten, but fish their own side or large frighten them, preventing the mudskippers from entering the water as often as they need to.

In other words, while yes, you can create a viable habitat for mudskippers using plastic ramps and ledges, no, you can't use these to create an aquarium that suits both mudskippers and fish. This being the case, it's generally best to concentrate on producing an attractive, interesting habitat for your mudskippers using sand, wood, stones and plastic plants.

Cheers, Neale
