last night one of my brevis decided he wanted the tank to him self, he started bullying my other brevis and my young calvus (had a couple of nips at it).
to begin with the fight was very one sided, the more aggressive brevis chased the other one away from both sets of shells, these are at opposite sides of the tank and there is no line of sight between them. it basically kept the other brevis in the top half of the tank. it also tried to nip it on the sides and fins.
towards the end of last night the bullied brevis had enough and fought back, it had it by the side, nipping away (the more aggressive was shocked for a bit). then they locked lips in the middle of tank and had a stand off. all my other fish stayed well out of the way (even the danio's stayed in a group at the surface which i have never seen before).
i have a feeling i have two males as the are nearly the same size (this was not the case when i bought them, one was allot smaller), fins look the same. the only real difference i can see is one is more torpedo shape, the other a little more rounded. i bought brevis because i read they take less territory than any other shell dweller, even suggested i could have 2 pairs in a 20g (although i would not do this).
the more aggressive brevis has been chasing the other brevis around the tank for about 12 hours on and off (was still doing it this morning but to a lesser extent) and i'm not sure what to do now, i don't really have a place to put it?
