Ram?

Hey all,

Im normally in the newbie section, but ive just got a fish which my lfs told me was a ram and after doing a bit of research i think its a chilid?

I'm hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction to what it is and how to care for it. I have a 65l tank so do you think he/she will be ok on their own or should i get it a mate. I thinks it is beautiful fish and have tried taking some pics.

Hi Mike I think a Ram is a Cichlid.Cant tell you much else as I dont have any myself.

Rams, it seems are members of the Cichlid family, according to this page: http/indiapets.com/fishes/species/fh060.htm

Yup, Microgeophagus ramirezi, aka Ram. It is actually a New Wold Cichlid, not African. There is some info here in the TFF fish database. Also have a look in the New World Cichlid forum , lots of great info on rams in there.
