Ram Babies!

My fiance and I went away this weekend, to come home to a huge batch of German blue Ram babies . Does this sound weird? There weren't any eggs laid on friday when we left, at least I don't think so, and we com home and there is a nest and a ton of little babies swimming below dad . This was a complete shock as I thought I'd have to do something in order to initiate breeding, not just leave them alone. I must say that I had hoped one day to try and raise some ram babies, but I didn't plan on it now.
With that said, what can I do to give these little guys the best chance at survival? What foods should I feed them?
I don't believe that any of the co-inhabitants of the tank will bother them very much as it's a tall tank, and I don't think I've ever seen my tetra near the bottom. But as I just found out you never can tell. Dad seems to be doing a very good job, he chases mom away etc.

Glad to see you got a batch of fry.

Not sure what to feed them, though. I have not researched it, but I wager they will accept daphnia and other small organisms now. Java moss, I have read and would think, would be a good place for them to feed. Someone here said his/her cichlid parents took the babies ot java moss to feed.

Update:
The babies are now free swimming, They have been moved away from the filter, whew Dad and mom are now working vigorously to keep the tetra away from them. Tag team kinda thing. If the babies begin to stray to far, dad will scoop them up in his mouth and bring them back to the others. Kinda scared me at first I thought that he was eating them . They've got them under the heater which is at a 45 degree angle. Works, but I would rather see them moved to one of the true caves that are in the tank. There seems to be between 50-100 babies, swimming below dad. I hope we get a few that make it.
