Rainwater Can I Use It?

Hi i want to set up a tank with softer water than i can get from my tap, which is about 450 ppm.
I cant use Ro as i dont have enough water preasure but i have a supply of pvery clean looking rainwater
which has a ppm of 40.
I have read many topics on many forums and many say its fine, but they are allways from overseas
and many say its not.

So Has anyone in the UK used rainwater or are there any dangers from bacteria or the like.

bacteria shouldn't be a problem, but industrial /other pollutants can be. If you live somewhere with heavy industries, heavy traffic or the like, I wouldn't risk it.

collect the rain and let is sit, many members use this to supplement their water changes. though i am not one.
