Today I went to the fish shop with the intention of buying 5 blue neon rainbowfish but after seeing that they were £10 a piece I decided to go for something a little cheaper so I went for 5 Boeseman's Rainbowfish. The guy in the fish shop also scopped up another little rainbow accidently but I'm not sure what he is, so if anyone is able to identify him for me i'd be greatly appreciative.

Anyway, Pics:

Thanks DA, I hope he doesnt get too lonely. He seems to be trying to hang out with my danios but they're a close nit group....

I'll have to see how he gets on, his fins are a little ragged hopefully I can nurse him back to full strength :)

Quick Stats
Minimum Tank Size: 20 gallons
Care Level: Easy
Tank Conditions: 72-77°F; pH 7.0-7.5; dH 12-20
Temperament: Peaceful
Max. Size In Aquarium: Up to 3"
Diet: Omnivore
Origin: Indonesia
Family: Athterinidae

The Celebes Rainbow is a schooling fish that should be kept with other peaceful fish. The colorful males have an extended second dorsal and anal fin. Natural lighting intensifies their colors.

The aquarium for this peaceful Rainbow should have plants but also needs large open spaces for swimming. Water conditions should remain stable, as the Celebes is sensitive to changes.

Spawning takes place over moss or the eggs may be laid among plants. After hatching, usually about ten days, fry may be fed prepared live foods or brine shrimp.

Although Celebes Rainbows have large mouths, their throats tend to be narrow. Small pieces of an omnivore diet of prepared flakes, algae, or live foods should be fed.

Ideal tank mates include: Discus, Angelfish, Livebearers, Tetras, Gouramis, Danios, Rasboras, Loaches, Pleacos, and scavenger Catfish of similar size

I've given him to my mate for the moment to look after, he has some short finned danios that the rainbow instantly started swimming with. He seems to be getting along fine. If he grows bigger and more beautiful I will have him back in my 50G and maybe get a couple more..... Will have to see how things go.
