Hi,

I have a rainbow shark acting very odd! I only got it on 13th April, and other than acting shyly it seemed ok. Today, it started floating vertically with mouth by top of tank, and is now floating on side, with mouth moving quickly.

tests are normal, 7.2 ph 0(ammonia) ,0(nitrite) ,20 (nitrate)

Thanks

Ed

Does the fish look bloated, can it maintain it's balance in the water, sounds like swim bladder at the moment, as they can heavy breath with that, does he try to rest on things, is the fish still eating.

Hi,
Fish doesn't look bloated. It is spending a lot of time at the top of the tank, which is never did. It is either on it's side, head pointing towards gravel, or tail pointing towards gravel. In a way it's almost looks like it's eating off the glass / surfaces. Not really swimming around, and not seen it eating.

Thanks

Ed

Headstanding not good, swim bladder, once they headstand never seen a fish make it sorry.

Headstanding, laying flat
Water quality problems, drug side effects, swimbladder infection, intestinal obstruction, late stage of infectious diseases
