Rainbow Cichlids + Convicts

I re-did this 40g tank.. now has 3 rainbow cichlids (2m + 1f).. 1 male convict hybrid without a tail... one female pink stubby convict.. and a weird psycho hybrid of who knows what.

It's a square plexi tank..


top left is old male rainbow.. to the right of that is old male rainbow and no tail convict hybrid thing.

then female rainbow.. and to the right of that are old male rainbow, female rainbow, and pink convict.

top left is my new male rainbow.. to the right of that is old male rainbow
middle is the no tail convict
bottom is the weird psycho hybrid and old male rainbow

now an overall of the tank.. you can see all the fish in this shot.. nothing really going on around the top of the tank.. mostly just cave areas on the bottom so they can establish territories.

any comments welcome

Is this a cube tank ? It may be 40 gallons, but more ground space is usually better with cichlids to establish territories.


But Overall Its a nice fish tank ! and Fish !

Yea I really regret buying the tank actually... but I have to stick something in it.. originally it was only for the 2 rainbows as they spawned... but they stopped spawning, so I thought I'd add some fish with them, and the convicts fit in pretty well.. if things don't work out, I've got lots of other tanks I could move them to.

Nice Fish. What about some higher rock or plant astructure to make the upper section safe to patrol. Or a shelf ledge.
