Rainbow Cichlid

I bought a mating pair of rainbow cichlids today for my LFS. Unfoutunitly the females torn up pretty bad form the male.(probably because they where in a 10G tank.) When I got home I put the female in my health tank(thats what I call my 10G tank when my fish get sick) and added some stresscoat to it. I put the male in a 55G tank with 2 convicts. The females fins are all torn up and has scales missing from it's side. She basically just sits at the bottom of the 10G tank. (She does eat though) She's about 3 inches right now. What should I do? Will she fully recover over time? Or will she just get weaker and die. I'm going to do everything I can to repair and help this fish. Any suggestions would be very helpful. I think youll find your little rainbow cichlid is quite robust and given good water, food and a little TLC will make a full recovery! Try adding a little Melafix from API it contains Aloe vera which has great healing capabilities!

I just had the same problem.. male rainbow beat the snot out of the female.. missing scales, most of her tail ripped to shreads.. 3 days later heater malfunctioned and heated the water waay too hot..

She's still alive.. I've just kept doing water changes weekly and have kept her with nice fish that wont bother her and she's healing well.

Yep they are very hardy, just saying if anyone close to Gloucester wants any i'd be happy to swap for something or sell them for £1 each.
