Hi hopefully someone can shed some light on this for me.

Got homw from work yesterday to find my Rainbows had bread again laying about 100 eggs on a pirce of driftwood. Having set up a 24" x 12" breeding tank at christmas, i decided to transplant the piece of egg covered driftwood along with the two rainbows last night. Almost as soon as i put the pair in they hid right in the back corner of the tank and lost most of the black colour they show while breeding. They also didnt seem interested that the eggs were there either.

Anyway i had a quick check on them before i left this morning and to my surprise there were no eggs left in the tank! Would they have eaten them out of fear since i disturbed them or do you think it could be something else?

Quite gutted as this is now my third failed breeding attempt

Was the tank cycled you put them in ?
Did you climatise them or are you sure the tanks parameters are exactly the same ? Sounds like typical fish shock...dont know why they would eat the eggs though.
