I am having an ant problem in my kitchen I wanted to buy raid ant poison to kill them. But I have a 55 gallon tank about 20-25 feet away from where I would be spraying. I've heard that the fumes can get into the tank and harm the fish. Do you think that I should hold off spraying or do you think it wont bother the fish?

Insect poison is DEADLY if it gets in the water. If it is critcal to do this and you can't remove the tank, you can do the following:
  • temporarily remove all open filters and equipment that fumes can settle on
  • Shrink wrap or at least cellophane the top of the tank
  • temporarily stop all air pumps that can pump fumes into the tank water
  • wash all surfaces off afterward

Briefly doing this is fine but remember that a tank needs circulation, both water and air.

this is good to know cause i have a similar problem. thanks steelhealr for the answer and thanks rachh004

Once we used one spray of rabbit "Fly Free" about 12 feet from an open top tank, in another direction. We came back in and the entire tanks inhabitants were dead in about 3 minutes. Couldnt do anything to save them nor even work out what it was until a few weeks later.
