R.I.P. Blue eye

i have a tank that has all my wild collected fish in it such as rainbows, gudgeons, blue eyes and mosquito fish. I use the mosquito fish as feeders for my sleepy cod(large gudgeon). Well the mosquito fish usually stay near the surface so here i am scooping fish off the surface for the sleepy cod and the filter was clogged up so it wasnt aerating the water very well so the blue eyes were also at the surface, well i scooped 1 of my 2 blue eyes up and into sleepcod tank. B4 i knew wat i had done, he was eaten. Poor little guy.
