Just a few stocking question for my two aquariums

For my 20g, which I am no longer really in control since away for college, my dad is heart set on some Upside Down Catfish. So, would it be okay for maybe 2-3 UDC in the 20g? Or rather, how bad would it be? Here's the stocking:

-7 Cardinal Tetras
-7 Kuhli Loaches
-3 Amano Shrimp
-1 Nerite Snail
-1 Peacock Goby

And my mom wants to know if she can add anything else to the 5g.
Stock:

-1 male Betta
- 1 Nerite Snail

Thanks

I'd say you would be able to fit them in.....(BTW Peacock Gobys should be kept in groups of 4 or more :) )

I would not add any USD cats to the 20 long as I think most are unsuitable for that size tank? It would be better to know which one he is referring to since there are lots.
I would not add anything else to the 5g either.

Peacock gobies do not need groups of 4 or more, they can be by themselves but are commonly kept in trios of 1M:2F. That is more to do with breeding though than needing company. :)

My answer for both tanks is, no.  The 20g cannot support a group of upside down catfish.  This species needs a small group, and a larger tank: more info here http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/synodontis-nigriventris/

The goby as Ryan said could be increased to a small group, or as Ninjouzata said.

Thank you all for your responses. Maybe now I can get him not to get any. Perhaps I can persuade him with other fish, say either a single or a trio of honey gouramis?

And as for the Peacock Goby, Mr. Goby Won Kenobi had females...until he butchered them all. He single handedly bullied each of them to death. Therefore I will not be getting anymore as he's a real turd. He's living out the rest of his life in my 20g.

For the 5g, what about shrimp? I don't know how aggressive the betta is towards them and there's plenty of hiding spots for small shrimp like cherries.  I can always try a small amount and see. I don't know about Amanos and if they can go in 5g though.

I think the honey gouramis would be okay, just be sure to keep up on tank maintenance.

Sorry your peacock gudgeon is a meanie. It's neat how different they can all be. My male gets picked on by my neons.

I'd think shrimp should be okay bioload-wise, but like you say the betta could eat them. If you provide lots of hiding places though then hopefully some will survive.
