hi, just bought 6 of these little critters as i got them at a good price.

My tank is a 120L so it plenty big enough for them with 6 corries (+3 more i got today)
6 gold barbs, 1 BN and 4 SAE's.

Substrate is sand so that ok, and i have plenty of shelters, bogwood, and anubias etc.

Myc question is, i have 2 external filters on the tank, im worried about them being sucked up inside them, through the mesh on the inlets. Despite them being low power filters.
Should i be worried? (khulis are only small! and can get everywhere)

Is covering the inlets the only way to solve this? (i do have some sponges i could use but them in going to have a lack of flow)

Hello Nick you got to love Kuhlis well when you see them lol. Your absolutlety rite they can get into all sorts of nooks and crannys I had one that used to go in and out of my Internal Juwel box filter funny guy. But your write getting in an external could be a problem I do know some people have used a finer net or even tights/pantyhose fabric to put around the filter inlets of course you would have to clean it on a regular basis to reduce the problem you eluded to with the reduction of flow. I have seen some posts were people have used Filter foam but of course you would still need to clean it on a regular basis.

Maybe make sure your intake is no lower than halfway down your tank this will leave the intake mainly out of site of the Kuhlis as they prefer the bottom.

BEFORE anyone says well I see kuhlis swimming at the top of my tank please consider my contribution here is just trying to help and by no means I am emitting or staiting that Kuhlis ONLY inhabit the bottom of tanks I am just trying to point out there genral nature, and the habits of my 8 Kuhlis

Well I hope this helps regards onebto

cheers for that. i guessed covering the filter was wise.

Now, i never see them in my 120L as it is a mess and there is too much rockwork and wood they can hide under.

can 6 khuli's live in a 18x12x12 (42 litres) ?

its a bare bottom tank im about to set up for breeding corries. but i might put some sand down that they can snuffle around in, and obvioulsy fake plants, and java fern etc.

Now my Question is:

Will young khuli's eat corydoras eggs?

i want something to jazz up the breeding tank, but obvioulsy not scare the corries. i do have some shrimp that i might put in there. i know khuli's wont touch amano shrimp but will they eat cherries?
