ive had my tank running for 7 days on saturday im going to do a fish In cycle but my question is when my tank has matured the fish i want the most in my tank is a red fin shark

what hardy fish can i put in there that will at a later date not get attacked buy the shark?

Sorry but a 70L isn't going to be big enough for a red finned shark (rainbow shark), not in actual dimensions or in water volume.
My 125L tank isn't really big enough for a Rainbow Shark based on water volume (dimensions wise it should be big enough).
They can be aggressive towards their own kind and also towards fish of a similar shape.

Pleco's come in many different sizes, the problem will be finding one that will stay small enough for your tank as even a bristlenose will be too big.
Have a read of the fish profiles on this forum to help you make your choices.

There are two links in my siggy - one for fish in cycling and one for fishless cycling.
Unless you have plenty of time for checking water and doing big water changes as and when required, I'd suggest that you strongly consider the fishless cycle option.

Why is it lame? Fish need room to move and grow safely and some grow quite fast. Little tanks mean little fish.
Rule of thumb - always buy the biggest tank the you can 1) afford [to buy and run] and 2) have space for :good:

oh well ill have to rethink my ideas

cheers for your help :good:

If you want a pleco I think you'd be ok with a 187a, spotted bulldog pleco. They stay nice and small, and I currently have 1 living in my 60L tank, (although I am getting another as well and they will be moving over to my 300L tank soon. Not because of their size, but just because it will be their new home! - lol)

cheers schmill

ive been reading all over the internet as i really want a plec and i can to the same conclusion

how long does it take before its fully grown?

im definatly getting a bigger tank before the end of the year.
