I currently have a 15ukg tank with the following stocking:
4 black widow tetras
4 black neon tetras
2 platys
1 black molly
I am upgrading to a 24ukg tank soon and moving my current fish to the new tank, would i be able to add 1 angel fish to my new tank?
If so would i then be fully stocked or is there room for some more small fish i.e 2 inch or less.
thanks in advance.

there is room for an angel, however I wouldn't advise putting one in, a large part of they're diet in the wild is tetra's..... they might not eat them in your tank, but there's always a chance!

I'd put another small shoal of some other little fish, like harlequin rasbora's :)

Id second the harlequins but id wouldt put an angel in under a 30g 18" tall.

ok thanks guys. I think i'll avoid angels then. I'm really looking for a center piece for the new tank something a bit bigger maybe? any ideas?

pair of rams, dwarf/small gourami's ?

If i added a pair of rams or gourmais would i be fully stocked (in the new tank) i quite like the idea of another small shoal.

probably not if you got a pair of rams, if you just got 1 you could maybe squeeze another 4 little fish in or something like that. Gourami's can vary in size from 1 inch to 15 so it would really depend which ones you picked as to how much room you'd have after.

By my calculations your gonna have room for about 6/7 inches more of fish provided you keep well on top of tank maintenance and your filter's up to scratch. I wouldn't put anything bigger than about 3 inches in so yeah, probably a pair of 3 inch fish is what your looking for :)

:) thanks
so it's between a pair of rams or a pair of dwarf gourmais. which would you say are the most colourful or 'interesting'?
Are gourmais better kept in pairs?
Are rams better kept in pairs?

sorry for all the questions lol.

best bet to see which you find most interesting are to stick it in google image search and see what you like the look of, then do some research. Bit hard to say what's best as it's personal preference.

you need to be careful with some male gourami's being aggressive, but I don't think there's the same issues with dwarfs, not sure for rams really. try looking in the fish index's :)

no worries, better to ask and make an informed decision than rush it and end up with unsuitable fish, not fair on them, you or the other inhabitants of the tank

I've had dwarf gouramis and I now have a pair of blue rams. I'd go with the rams myself. They don't have as flashy of color, but they do have some beautiful colors. Both of mine have great personalities, too. Plus, depending on what kind of gourami (dwarf or dwarf honey), it could be difficult to find a female, and 2 males would probably fight a bit.
Go for a pair of rams... that's my vote! :p
here's a pic of mine... the blue on their back ends doesn't show all the time, just to let you know. But they're so purty....

Oh yeah, and my pair of rams lay eggs like crazy! THey're so cute! I haven't had a batch survive yet, but I'm not trying to either. I just let nature take it's course. They weren't a breeding pair either.. I just picked 2 out of a tank of about 15. They must have a "connection"! LOL

Ok, i think i have decided!
sorry fishwatcher, but i am going to go with a dwarf gouramis. I am going to get 1 male and see how he gets on i then might add a female partner for him or get 4 or so harlequins or a couple of corys.
