Background info
My mother has had fish in her tank for a week and over the past two days she has lost two plecs, today there appears to be whitespot on her platys. It has been a while since I last had whitespot in my tank so I decided to read the treating ick topic, however it says to raise the temp to 80 so that the white spots fall off, her tank is already set to 27c (81),

Question
Do i need to raise the temp now or just add the treatment? I will be using interpet anti white spot plus as I already have it at my house.

The tank currently has a plec, some tetras and some platys. I have no idea what the water stats are as Ive been away and will be doing a water change and water tests when i go up there in an hour or so (will do a water change then medicate)

Raise the pemperature to 28C then wait until the whitespots fall of (usually within 24-48 hours) as soon as there appears to be no white spots then treat - adding bit of aquarium salt can boost the med - i usually turn the heater bac to 26C soon as the spots fall off.
