Hi, thanks to the advice on here a couple of months ago I bit the bullet and got some plants for my Rio 240L and am just about to order some more!

Most of them are doing really well (even the hornwort, which has recovered from the platies eating most of it!). Only complete failure is the Borneo sword which was sold as an aquatic plant but apparently isn't really. The twisted vallis was a bit weird, got 3 of them and on 2 most of the leaves fell off, growing back ok now.

Sorry for waffling on. Question is - the straight vallis are doing so well that they're putting out new plants. Can new plants can be "dug up" and moved if I want?

Many thanks!

That's brilliant - have still got plenty of gaps & also have decided to get rid of the plastic in my smaller tank so this will save me money :good:

Stoopid question now - how do you do it? I guess each one is sort of still attached to the main plant - I was thinking to move the gravel out of the way until I get to the roots to separate the plant?

Also, just thought of something else - amazon swords are growing well but one of them has a couple of brown leaves - can I just remove the brown leaf at the base?

Many thanks!

Once the child plant is big enough and has roots then snip off the little runner than connects it to the mother and replant it where you want, i started with only a few stems of vallis and now its taken over my 29 gallon completely, as for the swords yeah just cut off the leaf you dont want at the base of its stem.
