the same as any fish. the female will have an egg tube grow from under here belly near her anal fin. you wont miss it as its quite noticeable. the males isn't no where near as noticeable, is much smaller than the females thicker and blunted tube and his is pointed. depending how long it takes you to notice it, it could take another two hours before they are ready to lay. in the mean time they will be cleaning the spawning site
i agree with what thegnu said, a big hint is when they start cleaning, but the egg tube is the biggest clue.
good luck with um. let us now how they turn out.
Yeah, I figured that was how because every time her egg tube or whatever it's called swells up she ends up giving birth that day but no ones ever actually told me so. She should be laying eggs any time now.
Alright, well the eggs were laid and I got her laying on film. I will bring it up so everyone can see it, only thing is the file is like 20 mbs and I don't know how to minimize it. Is there a site I go to upload it to?
Well I'm afraid I am very unlucky to say that they were eaten by the parents once again. I was going to artificially hatch them in a little hang off breeding net but they laid on a big rock so I had to wait until they hatched. Well while waiting the parents ate them
What I was thinking, next time they decide to spawn, two hours earlier I will take out the rocks which will encourage them to lay on the amazon sword leaf. Would this work?
hmmm, i wouldnt say it wold work onehundred percent. i always provide the pair with atleast 5 amazing spots, flat rocks tc. but they spawn where they want, not where i want them to. lol. stupid fish. lol. try, who knows, it may work?
