hi the lighting i have at the moment is a t8 18w bulb, my plants are doing ok apart from some of the lower leafs, i know thats not realy enough light for a planted tank, but there is no more room for another bulb so can you get a higher wat bulb that would be enough for my tank, its 90 litres, any help would be great cause i havnt got a clue.
thanks

Mate looks like bog standard lighting you've got in there, is that the ballast I can see behind the light tube? If so take the whole thing out, get a twin starter from here, then get two 18w tubes each with a reflector, bingo double the lighting under the hood

Yeh easy, just need something to make new holes so you can attach the fixtures for the light tubes. It the hood you've got thin metal? If its not you might have trouble making the hole.

I would get the 20w twin starter and use 18w bulbs that what Ive got and its works fine. 40w bulba are much long (lenght) so much of the tube woudl probably stick out the end of the hood!

HTH - if you post a pic of the underside of the hood I might be able to advise more specifically before you got out and spend 50quid!
