Well im thinking of getting some nice guppies and breeding them, just wondering, i remember when my dads koi spawned alot of the babies didnt have any colouration, well nothing fancy just a flat colour, does this happen with guppies? or will all the babies inherit the parents colouration?

I think their colours are random so they don't inherit it from their parents.

really? my baby guppies all look like there parents

Guppies inherit parental colouration that's why breeders breed certain strains ie moscow blues! Its only the guppies that are allowed to breed as they please that end up with different colourations, as they're not a specific strain anymore.

There are many lines of guppies which if only breed together will breed true.
Finding these in shops are almost impossible unless your very lucky.

I breed a couple of pure lines of guppies and they breed 100% true.
If you want them to breed true you cant mix them with other guppies of they will breed together and get a mixed lot of fish.

What this person want to do from the sounds is just get colour full fish.

If you select a colour full male and mix with a female with a coloured tail then you will have a mixed bag of fry which should all have colour. However on occasions you get poor coloured males and females (very hard to tell in some females as the colour's are not expressed so well), if you breed these you will the get wild looking fish with less and less colour
