i just got a betta last night and today hes been sitting on the gravel,nder plants and wood.is this normal?

Would help to know a few things to establish what is wrong

tank size
temp
filter yes/no
tankmates
water stats

I have bought bettas and they have acted like that for the first couple of hours to days. But water conidtions can have this effect as well. What size tank or bowl do you have the betta in? Make sure the water isn't too cold, espcially if you have in a bowl.

ok my temp is 76 and the tank size is 10 gallons and i did a 50% water change 2 days before.there is a filter and and no tank mates

Where there fish in there before, or is this a new setup and filter media? The temperature could be a little highies, maybe around 78C. But sounds like a good setup though.

yes,there were fish before but i gave them away because they were getting too big

Hmmm well all I can figure is give him a couple of more days and see how he is. Like I mentioned before I have bought bettas before and they have acted like that for the first few days. But they come around and start swimming around. I joke around by saying they are not used to all the space and they dont know how to use it hahaha. Well if they came from a bowl that is.
