Questions On A Co2 Splitter

I am very interested in a CO2 splitter. I have found this one, but I'm not sure if it will work with my setup. I have this exact one.
1. My setup has a solenoid plugged into a timer, Is this what they mean by a electronic regulator?
2. Is there anything else that might not make it work with my setup?
3. Has anyone used these before, what do you think of them?
4. Also I am planning on only running 2 tanks at first then adding a 3rd. Would it be OK to completely close one of the needle valve for a extended amount of time, or would this damage it?
5. Is there any better way to provide co2 for multiple tanks?

I thought about doing that too, but I would have to buy another needle valve and bubble counter which would cost about the same as the 3 way splitter that has every thing built in. The only problem is I don't know if I can hook that thing up to my setup.

hmm..i dont think you would need another needle valve or bubble counter. You would simply split it and place in the Y splitter after the needle valve and then up the needle valve rate so its twice the value it currently is and then it will be split at the Y splitter meaning each tank would get 50% so if you had 2 bubbles per second that would be one bubble for each tank or does this theory not work :unsure:

It would be hard to get it to work that way. You would need the diffusers to be the same and they would have to be the same depth under water. The CO2 is going to go the path of least resistance. So if one tank requires more pressure to diffuse the CO2 than the other. You will have most or all of your CO2 going to the tank that requires less pressure to diffuse it. It would make it really hard to diffuse the right amount of CO2 for each tank especially if the tanks are different sizes. That is why you would have to have the Y splitter then a needle valve and bubble counter going to each tank.
 
The CO2 splitter from AM looks good but there have been a few bad reviews r.e. leakages and flow control etc.

The best way is with the Y branch above (this is a copy of the ADA one)

What the poster hasn't said is that you then need to buy a speed controller for each line. This is a little needle valve type unit which fits inline and you can adjust how much goes each way down the line.

This again is an ADA copy and you need 2 for each line. This is in effect a needle valve for each line.
