Hello, I had a very pregnant Mickey Mouse Platy. Today I saw her give birth to two fry which she ate very quickly. She was very very pregnant, and squared off yesterday and started hiding in the plants. I noticed this morning some of the plants have been disrupted, especially the grasses. So my questions are
1) what are the chances of any fry surviving in a community tank ( has total of 7 fish in the tank)....so for example, out of a possibly 20 fry, is there any chance one is managing to survive in the plants
2) at what size is a fry likely to be too big to be eaten...or age if easier to advise
3) should I not do gravel siphoning to clean up waste in the tank in case I suck up a fry....how long can I get away with doing this for, without harming the fish( I will continue to do water changes but don't want to disrupt the gravel levels)
4) mum is still looking squared off at her front end, could she still have babies to birth, and is it possible for a platy to develop many different broods of different ages at the same time
5) if she is finished giving birth how long will it take her to return to normal size

Is there a website that can tell me about internal organs and anatomy of live bearers please

That's a lot of questions...

1) slim, but I've had some corydora panda fry survive to adulthood in a community.
2) when they are too big to fit in the adults mouth.
3) I would clean up still, just not too close to the plants.
4) Platies will give birth about every 28 days or so.  They will have multiple broods from a single encounter from a male.
5) She won't return to 'normal' size for quite a while, she could give birth up to 6 times.  She'll get smaller and then square off again.
