So this weekend, we got ourselves a 20lb bag of this Eco-Complete substrate.
We asked the guy at the fish store if it was going to be enough for our 28 gal and he said it wouldn't, but that we didn't need another bag of it (they only had the 1 bag anyway).. and that we could just use small similar colored gravel mixed in and it would work just as well (sidenote: surprised the heck out of me that he wasn't trying to sell us everything under the sun nm that he gave us a discount on the plants we got.. yay).
Is this true? Would mixing it with some regular gravel be just as good as if we had gotten another bag of this stuff?
Also, if we do just end up getting some gravel to mix with it, how much more should we get and how small should we get? Does Lowes or Home Depot usually carry small gravel? We went to one Home Depot today and all we saw were really large rocks. The stuff the petstore had was small, but it was a lighter color and looked sharp. Since we have corys we're gonna need something smooth so they won't get harmed any.
It's a 28gallon bowfront tank. Really not alot of bottom space. Ignore how messy it looks lol...we just put the plants where they would go until we redo it all.
So yeah any help and suggestions would be awesome!
