can a jaguar and an oscar get along fine in a 85(uk)g tank with the right sort of deacor eg two territorys
i have tried them before with limited success but that was with 2 o and 2 jags (stupid )

i have seen well know a tank one of my father freinds about 15 yrs ago with 2 such fish living quite happy in a 75(uk)g thats y i tried but i dont think i set the tank up good enough

I have to think that eventually that jag will want the entire tank to him/herself. I had a jag that got along fine with several other cichlids in my 125 for quite a while. Once the jag got to around 8-9" though it completely took over and kept the other occupants pinned in a small corner. Jags are very territorial and the territory they require is huge. :)

I agree with Jason, there are several factors that will determine what can be done with both of them, I have seen some jags that are complete terrors and will claim a entire 125 US gallon tank to themselves, while at the same time I have seen and am currently housing 2 jags that get along fine in a 75 gallon US tank, my 2 are at about 6 inches each and I have seen an adult pair in the same size tank without even a nip!!!!. so like I said the biggest thing will be the fishes personality, the second thing that will help ( a little bit anyways) is getting the fish at as small a size as possible, if you were to put 2 sub adult fish together they would probably tear eachother apart but juvies will bond a bit easier. and the second thing would be keeping the tank temp a bit cooler and the fishes bellies full.

:D thanks for the advice they seem to be fine at the monent they are both about 7" or so if they dont get on i do have a back up tank so i think i will set it up and cycle it just in case it fails

that would be a really good idea. ;)

when I got my jag it was ~1-1.5" and was put in a tank with slightly larger cichlids. the midas I had always ruled the tank though. for a long time, the jag got punked by a larger firemouth which I found slightly odd cause the fm got punked by everything else in the tank. anyway, as the fish grew I traded some in and wound up with a JD, GT, midas and jag in the 125 and as I said the midas was always the ruler of the tank and the jag started out as the smallest in the tank. before long though the jag outgrew everyone and at ~8" the jag completely took over the tank. i eventually traded it in and the midas, JD and GT lived in the tank for some time before I traded them in and got my festae.
