My bf is totally nuts over ghost shrimp, so we are going to the lfs tomorrow and picking a few up. I have a fully cycled and stable 10gal tank with 5 black phantom tetras in it. How many shrimp will i be able to add into the tank as to not overcrowd it? Thank you!!

I'd get about 5. They aren't big waste producers, and they are great scavengers.

Are you planning on adding anymore bottom feeders?

Also, they love live plants. Mine would always gather in the java moss or hornworth.

Nol I am not planning on any other bottom feeders. I was considering panda corys, but decided to go with just the ghost shrimp.

*edited for spelling*

If you can get Amano shrimp (Cardinia japonica) that would be better. They are great algae eaters :)

I brought 6 of the Amano shrimp about a month ago because of a hair algae problem, spend most of there time chillin around the filter outlet. Lazy gits!

I bought three Amano shrimp yesterday, and it came with a fry of some sort!! I have no idea what kind of fish it is, so my bf and I got it a fry tank for inside the main tank, hopefully it grows up.

thats exactly what mine do

if they don't start doing something they might become food!!

hahahaha, my buddy is already eyeing them up and debating on the batter. lol
So far they seem to have settled in nicely.

now to figure out what type of fish the fry is....

Thats what mine did at first. Infact one of them climbed into the filter overnight (I have a Juwel). Now I have added so many plants to the tank that they love it !!! They are always moving around the foliage. And when I feed pellets they come up quickly, grab one and run off to eat in peace :)

I havent seen a shred of algae since I added them

Dubby, how many do you have? What size tank?

3 in 60L tank. BTW, I also have mollys, SAE, CAE. So the combination is proving effective to stop algae :)
