So I was wondering what plants you cant the cuttings of?
Does that make since.

I have a \
Java Fern
2 Italian Val
Some other type of val (Jungle? maybe)
Amazon sword
and rotala ( I think, it's tall, skinny has lots o' stems and has things that ;look sorta like white flowers.)

Can I plant any of these cuttings?

The java fern will produce little "baby plants" on the end of its own leaves, when these split off you can plant them. you could probably split one java fern in two by carefully cutting off part of the rhizome aswell. dunno about the other though. :dunno:

Vallisneria will propagate via runners. My lovely vallisneria natans has propagated twice by sending a shoot under the substrate and developing a new plant. I do not believe any species of val can be propagated via cuttings.

In general, rotala does propagate with cuttings, although I'm not familiar with the species you seem to have.

The others were right about the other plants, but I am very sure that rotala can be replanted with the cuttings. I have a whole tank full, and I am always trimming and re planting. The stuff grows like a weed!

Good Luck! ;)

And to round it out, the sword should produce a "runner" which turns into a new plant, too.

Masterdrummer:

here is a simplistic rule for taking cuttings:...... if it has a stem you can, if it has a rosette you cant (eg. vallis, sword)
