Question

I have several planted tanks set up, but my lovely little sister wants a "flower". As in a plant that will flower underwater, not a plant that will be half in half out of the water. And I tried fooling her with a silk plant....didnt work. Is there any type of plant out there that wont rot in my tank, or kill all my fish?
I dont think there is. google didnt spit anything back out at me, so I will ask those who know much more about plants then me

Hard to get plants to flower underwater. However the one you see these days to do it most is Anubias species. It has to be very healthy and some people say that an extra long time period of darkness will cause them to flower.

my anubias flowers all the time, but an anubias flower doesn't look like 'normal' flower, with petals like you see in the garden or on water lillies. It's kind of green and pokey.

'banana plant' is quite an interesting specie that can sometimes flower, however it requires high lighting. I think your only other option is anubias sp

Besides a plastic plant with a flower and occasionally anubias, you could try Aponogetons or Vallis. They produce flowers but the flower will be above the water. Echinodorus (swordplants) will also produce a flower stalk but it will only have flowers if it is above water. Underwater it will produce little plants.
Flowers are a terrestrial thing and cannot be pollinated under water. Therefore you are unlikely to get any from aquatic plants living underwater.

as colin said the point of most flowers is insect pollination so aquarium plants may flower but might not be what you where expecting

Thanks everyone...That gave me more hope then I thought lol...Ill have to try those ideas....
And if I cant get peace and quiet Ill plant a rose bush in her mouth lol.....

That will get her to stop nagging lol....
