I bought five mollies around two weeks ago, and I noticed that one of them may be pregnant. Today, I was taking out the red ludwigia leaves from the tank when my sister noticed a black molly fry in the grasp of a ghost shrimp. I managed to separate the shrimp and the fry, and put the fry in a separate, empty tank, and took out the shrimp and the rest of the mollies to have the pregnant one give birth in peace. However, she doesn't seem to be releasing fry, and her stomach looks a bit smaller. Will she give birth later? She just swims around.

i think corin castle is right she may have had them all and you was a wee bit late

You may be surprised later with some fry you did not notice. The mother is done giving birth within 24 hours normally. Next month is a whole other chance. Good luck.

Mine give birth in about 5 hours so you probably missed it. Also, lift things up and you might find some more.

Some fish when stresseed will release a few and the the rest a few days later.

How ever as they give birth the mother already is producing eggs to replace the fry, so that why they look like they have not lost much wieght after giving birth.

o_O ohh. Well, she hasn't released any more, but she has plumped up again...this is so weird. I'm confused. XD

My fish plump up real quickly after they've just become pregnant. Then they slim down and grow larger until they're ready to birth.
