Yes Tanganyikan shell dwellers would work great.

How many depends on what species of shelldweller you choose to keep, but you're looking at about 4 (two pairs or a harem). These are the only African that should be kept in this size of tank.

N. Similis
N. Occelatus
N. Brevis
N. Meleagris
(for some of the more common ones)
