I brought one of these fish because the rubbish pet shop said they were fine with other fish. However I soon learnt that this wasn't the case and then had to buy a new tank and decor for it and a play mate of similiar type.

Now I seem to be struggling to control I think what might be a persistant swim bladder problem. It started with the upside down swimming but I started adding salt and treated it with swimm blaader treatment and also fed it pea's for a little while and it did clear up. However I have noticed that again it has put on loads of weight infact it looks bloated and just behind it's eyes there seems to be a lump either side and it's scales are sticking out abit. I'm extremely worried about him as I'm trying my best but this is my first fish and was ill advised when buying.

Do you test your water at all? If not then you can take a sample of the tank water to your pet shop and ask them to test it for you. We need ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph.

Sounds like dropsy symptoms. Do the scales look like a pine cone from above??
