I hope someone can help me figure this out.

The website http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/art_plant_dosage_calc.htm lists the density of potassium nitrate (KNO3) as 5.6 grams per U.S. teaspoon.

However, when I look on Wikipedia or any other reference website, I find that the density is listed as 2.1 grams per cubic centimeter (g*cm^-3). There are 4.9 cubic centimeters in one U.S. teaspoon. This means that Wiki and other sites list the density as

(2.1) g*cm^-3 * (4.9) cm^3 * tsp^-1 = 10. g * tsp^-1 = 10 grams per U.S. teaspoon.

Any ideas as to this discrepancy?

Crikey, dosing is getting like double maths on a Friday afternoon.

Xoe, I use Chuck`s online calculator and all my water parameters seem to be where they should be.

Yes, I'm leaning toward trusting Chuck's values over what I've done above. But the contradiction just baffles me, and I can't see any mistakes.

Well I can`t fault your interest levels, and questioning established methods is always healthy for the hobby.

I just used the grammes option box. It is a pretty unambiguous amount.

Dave.
