I'm in the process of upgrading my nano tank, when I bought my nano I got 10kg of very nice LR with all sorts of life on it which is thriving in the tank at the moment, I also bought a sack of ocean rock, 30kg of it. I put 3 slabs of this in the nano at the start and it's now hard to tell the difference between the LR I bought and the ocean rock unless you look very closely. The rest of the ocean rock (a lot of it!) I have stored away. If I move all of the rock that's in the nano tank - probably about 16kg of it into the new tank (190litres) would it be enough filtration just to add in some more (or all.. depends how much fits!) of the ocean rock I have also instead of buying more LR. At the moment I can't really go affording to buy more LR. Does ocean rock give the same amount of filtration as LR? I would be placing the LR on top of the ocean rock with ample flow on it also I would like to aqua scape this tank so it would be ideal to take my time using smaller ocean rock pieces.

Just some thoughts I have! Thanks for the help :good:

Ocean rock can become live but will never be as efficient as live rock for filtering, it is mostly too dense

Thanks! I'll put the nice looking ocean rock in and see how the LR looks, if it's too little for the size of the tank then I'll end up getting some more LR.. fishies seem to always come first before my own needs!
