Can you tell me what kind of plant this is?

I bought it about 5 days ago but I have noticed that at the bottom of the plant some of the leaves have turned brown, any idea why?

It's either Bacopa Carolina or Bacopa Monnieri. They look so much alike except for a couple of very little differences that are hard to see with out both plants present. Brown and rotting leaves generally means not enough light or nutrients are there for the plant. It could also mean it's in my tank and it just dosen't like me. I can't get stem plants to grow for me in any of my tanks. It's alright just means I have more room for those crypts and swords :D

Oooo......nice BIG picture lol

where'd I leave my 30'' monitor?

:)

it seems to be worsening, ive added some nutrafin plant gro' aquatic plant food as well as leaving the tank light on for longer than usual.

Is it better to just chuck it - will a decaying plant be harmful to the fish if i have to get rid of it my coolie loach will be upset though its his favourite hiding place. :alien:

You could always take the dying leaves off and see if that will help. Just becarefull of the fertilizers you put in. Algae loves that kind of stuff. Rose
