Potassium Sulphate can often have lumps in it. pommel and granite it next time, thats what I do.

I have followed Jame's guide. 55g to 500ml of water and it won't all dissolve

Although apparently I don't really need to use it anyway. Do you guys add it?

Nope. Only a K boost.

I find I get enough NPK from: KNO3 (N&K) and KH2PO4 (K&P).
 
You will only really need to add it if you feel there is a deficiency of K in the tank. Ordinarily, you should be dosing enough K with your nitrates and phosphates. For whatever reason, some people may not have to dose a great deal of phosphate and/or nitrate, which may leave their water column short on K.

I don`t have any Potassium Sulphate, personally.
